The prize was presented to Stephen McCaffrey by H.M. Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, at a ceremony in Stockholm City Hall during the ongoing World Water Week.

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) Sunday renewed the yellow alert for Typhoon Mawar, which is expected to hit south China's Guangdong Province on Sunday.

At 5 a.m. Sunday, the eye of Mawar Nike Air VaporMax Rood Nederland , this year's 16th typhoon in the region, was above the South China Sea some 135 km southeast of Guangdong, packing winds up to 25 meters per second, the national observatory said.

The NMC forecast that Mawar would grow stronger while moving northwestward at a speed of about 10 km per hour toward Guangdong, expecting it to land in coastal areas later on Sunday.

The center of the typhoon is expected to weaken quickly after making landfall.

WASHINGTON, July 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday said the country's economy and job market continued to improve since June, a sign that the central bank remains on track to raise interest rate later this year. But it didn't provide a clear signal for the rate hike timetable.

After concluding the two-day policy meeting, Fed officials said in a statement that economic activity has been expanding moderately in recent months despite soft business investment and net exports.

Fed officials upgraded their assessment of the job market, saying the labor market continued to improve and the underutilization of labor resources has diminished since early this year. In the statement, the Fed said the housing sector has shown additional improvement and dropped language saying energy prices appeared to have stabilized.
